Geographical
Constituency Boundaries
The Electoral Affairs Commission published provisional recommendations
on the delineation of geographical constituency boundaries
for the 1998 Legislative Council Election on October 11, 1997
for a two-week public consultation.
Nine open meetings were held to listen to public views and
a total of 104 written representations were received during
the consultation period.
A report on the final recommendations on the delineation of
geographical constituency boundaries for the Legislative Council
general election in 1998 was submitted to the Chief Executive
on October 31, 1997.
Under the final recommendations, Hong Kong is divided into
five geographical constituencies :

The Chief Executive in Council accepted all the recommendations
and the Declaration of Constituencies (Legislative Council)
Order 1997 was gazetted on November 14, 1997 and tabled in the
Provisional Legislative Council on November 19, 1997.
